Birkett Bogmats needed the right buyer and a well-managed process to deliver shareholder retirement while positioning the business to pursue its next phase of growth.

Based in Stratford-upon-Avon and incorporated in 2014, Birkett Bogmats specialises exclusively in the supply of hardwood timber bog and crane mats. Its products are used across construction, civil engineering and plant hire applications, including trackways, access roads, working platforms and jetties.

The business has built a strong reputation for reliability, customer service and consistent product quality at competitive prices, becoming one of the market leaders in its niche across the UK and Europe.

The shareholder was seeking an exit that would allow her to retire fully and realise value, having already relocated abroad while her husband had retired. At the same time, the business had clear opportunities for further expansion, including broader hire services, faster delivery through in-house haulage, additional warehousing, installation services, wider product range and increased sales and marketing activity.

K3 Deal Advisory ran a transparent sale process designed to secure the right strategic acquirer and maximise value for the seller. Led by Fabio Rambelli and Fahad Latif, the team worked closely with all stakeholders to keep dialogue open, address issues quickly and maintain momentum throughout the transaction.

Teqnion emerged as a particularly strong buyer from the process. The team was able to negotiate financial and commercial improvements to the offer which directly benefited the seller, while ensuring the process remained pragmatic and constructive.

Teqnion was already a known acquirer to K3 Deal Advisory, and this familiarity helped support an efficient process. Although challenges arose during the transaction, the strength of the relationship between the parties meant they were resolved without confrontation, helping both sides stay focused on a successful outcome.

The transaction delivered a favourable outcome for both seller and buyer. It provided the shareholder with the exit and retirement outcome she wanted, while placing Birkett Bogmats with an acquirer that shares its values around quality, service and long-term growth.

As part of Teqnion, Birkett Bogmats is well positioned to build on its strong market standing and pursue the opportunities identified for future expansion. The deal also demonstrated the value of a well-run, transparent process in helping parties navigate complexity and reach a commercially attractive result.

I’m proud to see Birkett Bogmats become part of Teqnion, a group that shares our values of quality, service and long-term thinking. Teqnion has an outstanding track record of supporting and developing entrepreneurial companies and I’m confident that under their ownership, Birkett Bogmats will continue to thrive and expand. Their commitment to empowering businesses gives me great reassurance that the company’s future growth and success are in very capable hands, and I look forward to the journey ahead for Birkett Bogmats.

I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. Fabio led the process brilliantly from start to finish, providing clear advice, reassurance and strong guidance at every stage. Fahad worked closely with Fabio throughout and was great to deal with — responsive, professional and always supportive. The wider K3 Deal Advisory team were excellent, always proactive and clearly had my best interests at the forefront. Selling a business is a huge milestone, and I’m extremely grateful for the hard work, dedication and care shown by Fabio, Fahad and the team. I would not hesitate to recommend K3 Deal Advisory to anyone considering a sale.
