Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to sell a business?

Most business sales take between 6 and 12 months from the point of formal engagement to completion. The timeline depends on the complexity of your business, the state of your financials, and how quickly the right buyer can be found and terms agreed. We’ll give you a realistic picture from our very first conversation — and we’ll work to keep things moving without cutting corners.

What’s my business worth?

Business valuations are driven by a range of factors: profitability, growth trajectory, customer concentration, sector dynamics and the quality of your management team, among others. There’s no formula that works for every business — which is why we provide a detailed, bespoke valuation as part of our initial engagement. We’ll also talk you through what could be done to increase value before you go to market.

How do I maintain confidentiality during a sale?

Confidentiality is something we take extremely seriously. We use carefully controlled information releases, NDAs with all prospective buyers, and a staged disclosure process that protects your business, your team and your customer relationships throughout. Your staff, suppliers and competitors won’t know a thing until you decide they should.

What documents will I need?

At the start of a process you’ll typically need three years of filed accounts, current management accounts, details of any key contracts, and an overview of your team structure. Don’t worry if these aren’t all in perfect shape — part of our preparation work is helping you get everything organised and presented in the most compelling way. We’ll tell you exactly what’s needed and when.

How do you charge for your services?

We work primarily on a success fee basis — which means our interests are completely aligned with yours. We only get paid when you do. There may be a modest initial retainer to cover preparation costs, which we’ll discuss transparently at the outset. No hidden fees, no surprises.

We understand your concerns

Maximise value with a structure that works

Maximum value isn’t what the first offer says, it’s what the best buyer will pay when they understand what they’re acquiring. It’s also about negotiating a deal structure that suits your objectives.  Our competitive process and proprietary buyer network consistently deliver better outcomes than going to market alone or through generalist advisors.

The right deal. The right buyer.

The business you’ve built means more than its balance sheet. We work to find buyers who will respect what you’ve created — your people, your customers, your culture and your reputation — not just acquire your revenue.

At your side through a complex process

We’ve done this hundreds of times and we’ll explain everything in plain English, keep you informed at every stage, and handle the complexity so you don’t have to. You focus on running your business, we’ll focus on selling it at the right value, to the right buyer.
