How Xentra secured £2.7m of growth capital from Maven

K3 Deal Advisory advised Leeds-based digital security specialist Xentra on a £2.7m growth capital investment from Maven to support the next stage of the business.

Founded in 2021, Xentra provides subscription-based cyber security, safeguarding and compliance solutions across the public and private sectors. The business helps customers assess, implement and manage enterprise-grade security technologies and now supports more than 90 organisations, including Leeds United Football Club and Leeds Bradford Airport.

Building the investment case

The cyber security sector continues to attract strong investor interest, driven by demand for specialist managed security and compliance services.

Xentra had already built an established subscription-based model and growing customer base, backed by an experienced management team with a clear vision for the business.

K3 Deal Advisory worked closely with Xentra’s shareholders and management team to position the company for investment. This meant demonstrating the strength of the existing proposition while clearly setting out the opportunity ahead.

The subscription model was an important part of that case, alongside the specialist expertise and customer relationships already established by the team.

Finding the right investment partner

The next step was identifying investors with both the appetite for the opportunity and the experience to support Xentra’s ambitions.

Drawing on its sector knowledge and understanding of the investment market, K3 Deal Advisory identified and approached potential funding partners. The process resulted in Maven providing £2.7m of growth capital.

Katie Horsfield, Associate Director at K3 Deal Advisory, led the transaction alongside Director Chris Collins and Manager Tom Kennedy.

Katie said:

“Having advised a number of technology and cyber businesses, we recognised the strength of Xentra’s proposition from the outset. This is underpinned by a highly experienced management team and a clear vision for growth.

“It has been a pleasure to work alongside the Xentra team on this transaction. We are delighted to have helped secure a funding partner that will support its ambitious growth plans and look forward to seeing the team build on its success in the years ahead.”

Supporting Xentra’s next stage

Maven’s investment will support Xentra as it expands its team, creates skilled jobs in the Leeds region and continues to invest in its technology, capabilities and service offering.

It also gives the business additional capacity to respond to increasing demand for specialist cyber security, safeguarding and compliance services across the public and private sectors.

Henry Doyle, CEO of Xentra, said:

“This investment marks an exciting milestone for Xentra as we continue to build a leading digital security business from Leeds.

“Maven’s backing gives us the platform to accelerate our growth strategy, invest further in our people and capabilities, and create high-quality jobs in the region.

“We would like to thank the team at K3 Deal Advisory for their expert guidance and support throughout the transaction. Their commercial approach and experience were invaluable in helping us achieve a successful outcome.”
